2010 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix

Last year was a disaster, as locals would've known there will always be thunderstorm around 4-6pm. But FOM insist to held the race at that time to benefit European viewers. Well, then we get half-ass race and half points too all drivers.

You would've thought FOM learned from last year. Well, they changed the time from 5pm local to 4pm local. We'll see if the Malaysian GP will be a half-ass show again.

I wouldn't mind a bit of rain to spice things up again... I hope no mediocre british drivers cause a first-corner accident for Der Meister again, though...

Are you referring to the mediocre brititsh diver that is the current world champ and winner of the latest GP thanks to some ballsy strategy and brilliant driving?

The only person who's legitimately been shafted this season is Vettel. Schumi has been out-qualified in both races so I'm not seeing where he is being shafted. I can't believe you feel bad for the guy who has won 7 drivers championships...

Yeah Vettel got overly shafted, but schumi was minding his business going around on the outside crusing along..

but as MSC put it "that's racing"

that's the one. you know, the one who could only win races last year when his car was vastly superior... that is, if his overly mediocre teammate wasn't beating him... and won the championship thanks to a young driver and his unreliable car. we're talking about the same guy, right?

p.s. don't get me wrong; it's all in good fun. what would F1 be without some healthy arguments?

Fawk...we all beat this subject to death during the off-season. Basically Button deserved the championship. You can say it was the car...he didn't win enough races....blah, blah.....bottom line is he was fast when he needed to be and took full advantage of the opportunities he was given. It was the full package all season...aggressive and dominating wins when his car was better....then conservative starategy to protect his points lead. It takes more than being a speed demon 110% of the time to win a championship, esp at this level.

I think that last week's performance shows he is not a fluke. He made a brilliant race strategy decision and drove away with the race in his own unique and smooth style.

I like Button...is he my favorite? No. But he deserves the #1 and he gets way too much flack than he deserves.

I think WDC is all relative in that year, some seasons you have multiple competitive cars and drivers, some other years there's only a few cars and drivers who are competitive in the season. But we cannot dis-credit any WDC won in a season that's a bit less competitive. Also FIA rule changes play a somewhat important role to determind if any car is competitive enough

I agree with both of you. You can take that argument you made for Button last year and apply it to some of Schumacher's past wins. I remember back in 2000, when the seal finally broke, being both utterly happy and disappointed at the same time that his championship was won because of pit strategy... (remember, japan?).

So you are right, he is not less of a World Championship if he beat them in that particular year. Just like the people who used to say, is Schumacher really that good, or are the rest just not as good (let's not go there...). Either way, I think my personal frustration with Button is that I was his fan when he came up to Williams... and he just never delivered (or had the cnahce), and when he did, it was a bit of an anti-climax?

Given that I have the can opener in my and... Hamilton... now, him, I don't like, plainly put. But the kid is fast... I was never sold on his talents until recently. He IS fast. Obnoxious and PR-prepped? You betcha.. but fast. Is he a legend? I'll reserve my judgement till 2020...

p.s. just to clear things up,I thought I was going to be part of the tifosi this year now that they have Alonso, but Schumacher's return is just all I can think of... old habits die hard I guess. Happy F1 watching everyone!
