LFA Nürburgring Edition Laps Nordschleife in 7:14

Finally some performance numbers to match that pricetag.

Some significant news broke today on Twitter — according to EVO writer Chris Harris & Lexus Europe, Lexus driver Akira Iida posted a 7:14 lap time of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a LFA Nürburgring Edition — good enough for either the fourth or fifth all-time fastest lap on the famed German track in a production vehicle (the exact time has yet to be announced). Even more impressive, regardless of milliseconds, this is the fastest lap ever by a mainstream manufacturer.

Amazing time! People laugh at Lexus as a performance car but this truly shows their potential.

Lexus is Toyota (who made the Supra) so I'm honestly not that surprised. But this is the car that should've been released from the factory on Day 1.

Agreed! Now only if Toyota could recreate the Supra like Nissan did with the GTR - we'd be in heaven.

The Supra really wasn't much when it premiered. It was an over-priced car that was hardly a sales success. It's credibility came well after the fact based purely on the after-market tuners and the fact that Toyota over-engineered the block.

Yep, but the engine definitely proved itself later.

Hmm I didn't know that (before my time). That block really is something special, though. I'd love to have a Boost Logic Supra for a day... and a few extra lives to go with it.

No doubt. Just saying...

The LFA certainly is impressive... I wish every manufacturer had the time and extra capital to try something equally as ridiculous in terms of engineering lol

I always thought this car had potential. Great sounding, great handling, and finally, fast.

Cool that they say they beat it, I give them props, but I want to see the real video of it, just to see how crazy fast it was.

Because right now its like, "Hey I just broke a record! Here is a video of me not doing it though!"

They just announced the times through Twitter and you expect them to upload a video right away? Give it some time...

If it is truly 7:12.. that is some impressive times..Faster than a GT2 RS with slicks..

Reports are actually saying 7:14.

Radical and Gumpert are barely road legal race cars versus luxury supercars like the LF A or GT2 RS. Simply amazing performance.

Yes! Why waste time uploading the video of you not doing it, when you could have been uploading the video if you breaking the record?!

I don't doubt that they broke it, I said that I give them props for it, bravo. But lets not botch the video part. Not posting any video to build the suspense is better than posting the wrong video.

Incredible, the 'normal' LFA weighs a mere 1615kgs(source: automotorundsport nr19, aug 25th 2011) which isn't quite lightweight.

Not taking anything away from the achievement, its amazingly fast! But I do laugh at the extreme Lexus has gone through to prove they belong! Looking at the base car times, its middle of the "ring" road. And for a high price. The 7:14 time is a special edition that adds even more $ to the 375K base, probably 450k+ when it comes to market.
I'll take a Porsche turbo, Audi R8V10, and a Vantage and be able to have some $ left over for a gas card : )

I would too, but that also means it's not for you nor was it marketed towards the people who ask, how much?
