Chapstick / Lip Balm Thread

Since it seems I'm not the only one with a chapstick addiction / borderline paranoia, post em up. Today, I discovered Aloegator Vanilla SPF 30 at REI and for $1.95 + 10% sales tax (fucking crooks) changed my life.

This is by far the best one I've used, and plan on going back tomorrow and buying them out. Probably pick up some gummy bears while I'm there. Sorry for the gross nail on my thumb. It just grew back and looked a lot worse like 2 weeks ago

Other personal favorites include:

Burts Bees Medicated:

Blistex Medicated:

Palmer's Cocoa Butter:

AVOID:

Blistex Complete Moisture (dries your lips out):

I don't leave home without one. Pretty sure I have one in EVERY possible area of my life, IE Car/Work/Gymbag/Bathroom/ETC. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever finished one....I always lose them.

In undergrad some professors were really particular about having NOTHING out during tests, I had to get a dr's note to have chapstick (label torn off) during midterm/final exams. And I submitted it to the GMAT board for approval, since their rules are just as strict. Waiting to hear back. Started after getting debilitatingly windburnt skiing years ago, it's a complete psychological thing now.

Also, I learned the hard way not to leave one out in the sun in the car...always have it in a compartment somewhere.

Keep in mind when reading the ingredients that "cetyl alcohol" is ok, it's the compound that gives the balm the "waxy" characteristic. Be wary of other forums of alcohol though.

I've noticed that it doesn't seem to deposit a substantial layer on your lips, and I tended to need to apply it often, leading me to believe it was drying my lips out. There is no ingredient list on the tube so I'm not sure what exactly would do it. For the money, I would recommend one of the ones I posted. Everything but the aloe-gator can be found at CVS or Walgreens, the Palmer's is only at ghetto CVS

FWIW, the aloe-gator leaves a substantial layer. I've had two scotch rocks and it's holding up in a situations that otherwise usually calls for liberal re-application.

I've tried Burt's before and it worked pretty damn well but so far I've had decent luck with that Blistex. The medicine I was taking for acne as a teen dried me the hell out and that's when I started really using chapstick. At the time, Blistex was the only one that really seemed to make it feel better. I'll definitely check the other ones out though, thanks

Chapstick Classic Black Label.... I must have this on me at all times.

Before I go to bed, I use this:

In both cases its quite clear that it's an OCD thing, but there is nothing I've been able to do to kick it.

My lip chaps so bad that i feel like i peel my entire lip at least once a day. I get super antsy if I don't have a chapstick with me. I wish i could cure this problem...

I would go insane if I didn't have my cherry Chapstick. Out of the last ~10 years of my life, I've probably not worn it maybe 10 minutes.
