Recaro FS: Recaro Pro Racer XL SPG - Head Restraint - FIA

Selling because it expired in January. Nothing wrong with the seat, it’s mint. Perfect for anyone who doesn’t club race and needs a safe supportive seat for Track Days.

Excuse my ignorance but why do seats have expiration dates?

That’s alright and great question!

FIA has a five-year rule with seats. A race seat technically expires five years after its date of manufacture. It’s all about safety standards per whatever sanction you race with. Think of it like this….sit in a regular car seat after 15 years of use, foam breaks down, UV exposure etc etc. race seats see track time, they are bolted into race cars and see much more lateral G forces than regular car seats. No couple that with 6 point harnesses and 230lb driver with 5 years of racing. Wear and tear in a way.

Hi. I've come back to the BMW marque for HPDE purposes and have recently purchased a former E36 race car w/ an S65 motor. The car is still in transport headed to me in Vancouver. This type of seat would make for a perfect HPDE seat and fits the period correct E36 GTR look I'm going for. As I'm new, I can't PM. Curious what you're looking to get for this seat (assuming I can find someone to pick it up, or make it easy for you to just drop off at a UPS/FedEx).

OK, found the price by navigating to the marketplace first. FYI - I found this posting through Google which took me directly to this page w/ no price showing. The only way to see the actual asking price is to see the listing in the marketplace first. A bit unexpected, but I figured it out.

@nicksm3 I might be interested in this seat. Are you able to PM me?
