I wouldn't get too up in arms over that render. It looks to me like a gussied up Zagato Coupe, and to worse effect. Probably more the effort of someone at the magazine than anything we'll see come out of Munich.

I don't understand how people can't like this but can like the 4 series....
It makes zero sense. You guys complain BMW doesn't have a flashy enough sports car, they offer something nice and over the top like this, yet you guys still complain. Yet the ones complaining will be the ones bragging about a Euro delivery and showing pictures of them eating pastries at the delivery center talking about how this car is the second coming of god

And for the record, I'm able to look past the gaudy bits and see what is going to be an incredibly good looking Z car underneath.

It would be better if it looked more like an E46 with a more practical shape and not as much set back / rearward cabin.

BMW + Toyota = hopefully a fast, incredible riding, super efficient and reliable coupe. Toyota must have something up their sleeve otherwise why would BMW bother.

BMW may get manufacturing load taken to Toyota factories. Pretty big plus. 2 weeks from factory to your door!

Hoping they will offer a lighter non-hybrid variant.

Well... I guess I'll wait to see what they can pull off with this.

The gold coupe rendering has some 2015 mustang hint on the front end...

so you are saying it shouldn't have a set back/rearward cabin like the Z3... or the Z4 did?

I agree, the orange is stunning and modern. I was a big fan of the supra back in the day and would love to see it back! The BMW Motor and handling with toyota cooling system and reliability in this package would be awesome!

Whatever they call it, I hope the next Z4 will have the fixed roof coupe again and have enough brakes and engine cooling not to overheat at the track

I love my E89 on the street and it is great fun for a few laps but it heat soaks so quickly and it is down hill from there.

That Toyota FT-1 concept is beautiful. Whatever the Z design is, I hope its as beautiful penned as FT1 concept.

Exciting proposals!

Yes, they did the LFA alone but we are not talking about a super car. Toyota doesn't have anything that would make financial sense to base the next gen Supra on so yes, they do need BMW's know-how. BMW is sourcing it's excellent 2.0 liter turbo with Toyota's excellent hybrid technology. BMW is responsible for chassis development as well. At the end of the day, it seems that BMW is developing most of the things that matter to make a fun to drive car and Toyota is mainly responsible for developing the hybrid tech.

Each will use their engines. The only thing shared is the platform (mostly from BMW but taking into consideration Toyota CF chassis experience) and the hybrid tech (mostly by Toyota, maybe using some BMW experience with the i8).
