Lightbulb Nurburgring In The USA?

after all the paperwork, contracts, etc how much $$$ would it take to build a nurburgring exact replica on US soil lets say somewhere cheap like PA (closest to me that has cheapest land ).

out of curiosity...

Man, I can't even imagine how much all the pavement would cost to lay, not to mention the landscaping to follow the curves, haha. It would be pretty sweet though.

we can get away without the exact landscape. just the grading and the pavement should work. : )

haha, that'd be awesome.
But yeah, 13 miles of pavement and armco aren't going to be cheap. Getting the huge elevation changes would be difficult too.

It costs about $10 million a mile to build a standard 4 lane highway. It costs about $2 million a mile to build a 1 lane each way street. And thats flat land in AZ with little grading work needed.

To copy the ring you would need a lot of land work and it would probably cost about what a 4 lane highway does per mile of $10 million/ mile. So your looking at around $140+ million (inst the ring like 10 miles long?) for just the track and a few mill for the land.

Edit its just over 14 miles.

lol build it and they will come..... and pay dearly to drive on it. think how much cadilac would pay to use your ring instead of flying cars all the way over to europe to test.

now, find the next powerball/megamillions winner and ask for a loan.

Wow, didn't even think about that. The costs really would be enormous, all things considered.

$2mil/mile for a two lane paved road seems a bit pricey.. I doubt it is that expensive.

and don't forget, drivers in america are, generally, stupid friggin idiots. i probably wouldn't go on it fearing that some local kid with his new jetta wants to take some turns really really fast while trying to pass me at the same time.

no thanks. unless this road is highly regulated, i'll pay the $1500 to go to germany for a few days..

im thinking. if it were to be built there will be a waiting building and a parking lot at the front. once this is built the profit margin and business opportunities from auto companies, races, hotel chains, food chains, would be HUGE.

but what gets to me is why hasn't it been done and where would be a good location for such a thing?

im also thinking that the track should be in a place with a climate that's close to that of the real ring. i dont think it would be fun being baked while driving on the nevada landscape. just a thought.

That is only because you forget, it takes 4 people a week to lay it so you have to pay them, and you can't get away without paying the other 6 guys that are just standing around talking either...

You can not just copy this track. The track it self is bullshit but the name is historical and there are a lot of spirit there that you can NOT copy.
Why not just build a better and more usefull track while you are at it.

The Japanese already tried this..

Its not possible due to the amount of space and landscapping one would need.. its pointless and not worth it.. the ring is built in the mountains so good luck trying to build and copy 10miles of mountain roads lol
