We are already at round 5 of 7 on the 2014 calendar of the British GT Championship presented by SRO Motorsports and Avon Tyres.

The remainder of the calendar is:
Brands Hatch - 08/31
Donington Park - 09/14

Today was qualifying for tomorrow's race. Here's the article and congrats to the BMW Z4 of Ecurie Eccosse (we see them in the Blancpain races as well and will be back for the Spa 24 Hr coming up...see other thread)

"Two fifteen minute qualifying sessions in the 2014 Avon Tyres British GT Championship rewarded the consistent as the #79 Ecurie Ecosse BMW Z4 GT3 driven by Marco Attard and Alexander Sims saw the pair take pole for both races at Spa Francorchamps.

In the first session, driven by the amateurs, it was Attard who took pole for Saturday's first race with a lap of 2mins 25.309secs while Sims, in the pro session, took his pole for Saturday's second race with a 2mins 21.381secs.

The #4 Oman Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT3 had a strong first qualifying session that saw Ahmad Al Harthy take second with a lap of 2mins 25.532secs, but team-mate Michael Caine was unable to replicate the performance, finishing 20th with 2mins 24.189secs.

The #80 Nissan Academy Team RJN Nissan GT-R GT3 had a similar performance to the Oman Racing Team. Wolfgang Reip positioned the Nissan in third in the second session, with a lap of 2mins 21.994secs, after team-mate Chris Hoy took ninth with his lap of 2mins 26.579secs.

The Beechdean AMR #1 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 has had a habit of consistency throughout the season, and Andrew Howard took third in the first session with lap time of 2mins 25.714secs, before Adam followed up with a second place finish, setting a lap of 2mins 21.923secs.

In GT4, the #55 Academy Motorsport G55 Ginetta GT4 was also able to enjoy two pole positions after Oli Basey-Fisher took the top lap time with a 2mins 37.347secs, before team-mate Matt Nicoll-Jones earned pole with his lap of 2mins 35.473secs.

Below the Academy Motorsport team, four different teams took second and third in both sessions. In the first session, it was the #69 APO team with James May behind the wheel that took second with a lap of 2mins 37.813secs.

May was then closely followed by the #49 TF Sport Aston Martin GT4 Challenge of Andrew Jarman and his 2mins 37.837secs lap. The second session then saw a Ginetta one-two, after Bradley Ellis in the #46 Twisted Team Parker G55 Ginetta GT4 took second with a 2mins 35.485secs time, narrowly missing out on Nicoll-Jones' pole.

Finishing the second session top three was Gavan Kershaw in the #77 ISSY Racing Lotus Evora GT4, who posted a lap of 2mins 35.487.
