Formula 1 Grand Prix De Monaco 2014

Engine power, mechanical grip and a balance chassis will be the key for this race. Not so much on aerodynamics. Having said that, another Mercedes 1-2?

We should see Renault powered teams being closer to their competitors.

Red Bull might do well here. Like Kimi says, "we just have to wait and see."

RBR actually has a good balanced chassis this year. They got screwed by the Renault power units. So does other Renault teams. Especially on cooling, where Renault had to restrict performance output.

We will see in Monaco who has got the better chassis. Mercedes will do well no doubt, but I'm not surprised to see RBR came in P3 and P4 again.

Definitely the circuit where anything can happen. I have a feeling Maldonado will get a few more points added to his license

I've long loved Monaco and the Monaco circuit...it's definitely - if not my favorite - then my second favorite race of the year.

Grandstands are from $550-800 in USD. $550 will put you in the grandstand facing the harbor near the Piscine chicane (you can see that section on the map that E90Slam put in his OP)

Hotels:

Hotel de Paris Monaco -sold out
Monte Carlo Bay -sold out
Monte Carlo Beach -sold out
Hotel Le Métropole - the only rooms left are suites going for about 13,000 for 2 nights.
Fairmont Monte Carlo - They have availabilities but are $7,014 - $25K
Hotel Hermitage -sold out but they have a cool "paddock lounge" in the Salle Belle Epoque banquet room

-- you might be able to find something on the other side of Nice near the airport --

For the race, my prediction:
1. Lewis
2. Nico
3. Daniel
4. Seb
5. Alonso

I thought that too about 3-4 weeks back. But everything changed in Spain when Mercedes finished 50 seconds ahead of Ricciardo in third. Early races it was a 20+ second margin.

Mercedes has the top end speed for sure. But I think everyone is underestimating how well their chassis is working as well. Their tire wear has improved massively since last year.

I don't think top-end speed will matter a great deal in Monaco

This race will be a boring one Just like Last year. Whoever qualifies first will finish first and that's that.

That is my point. Their lap times are not solely due do to HP. Mercedes is not getting credit to how well their chassis is sorted as well.

Unless Nico's frustration comes to a boiling point and he crashes or make Lewis crash on this tricky track it should be another 1-2. RBR should do well with their stellar chassis but it could also be where young talent like Hulk and Bottas get a chance to shine. If it rains anything can happen at least when there is no Senna...he won this race 6 times, 5 times in a row. We don't have anyone with his god given talent today so with Monaco you can never know. Looking forward to it.

That's what I was going to say, I love Monaco for the view and spectacle but from a racing standpoint, it isn't my favourite track for 'racing'.

Passing is too difficult.

No! Because no one knows where Maldonado will crash. That's always interesting.

All the low speed sharp and narrow corners should be fun to see with the torquey power units. Tricky to keep max power to the ground without sliding. I see crashes in the tea leaves...

Oh ok, gotcha! I misinterpreted what you were saying. Then yes I agree with you

I seem to remember Sergio Perez able to make some great passes last year. And so did Kimi.
Maldonado will probably crash again this year
