Hello. The 135i looks good to this long-time auto enthusiast.
Among the cars I’ve owned: MG TD, Austin Healeys 4- and 6-cylinder, Mini-Cooper 1275 S, 2002, 2002-Tii, Taurus SHO, E-30, E-36, Porsche 996. My wife, a strict utilitarian, drives a manual 5-speed Forester. My current utility car is an ’04 Audi S4 Avant (V8), my drive for pure fun an ’05 Mini-Cooper S. Of all these, the Minis have been in many ways the most entertaining, but my four Bimmers have been my favorite all-rounders. The 135i I looks like a “Q” ship with performance in the class of the Cayman S at only a little over half the tariff. (I’m guessing a 135 as I’d like it at maybe 38K vs. a Cayman S at around 65K, more than I now think reasonable for a toy. The 911 was a once-in-lifetime extravagance.) Not caring for the torque steer I’ve found in the second-generation MCS, like several others I’m thinking of the 135i as a successor to the R53. 1addicts.com certainly looks like the best way to keep up to date. Thanks to the organizers and contributors. |

Duckw,
Welcome, and I agree with you regarding R56 S torque steer--it's a booger on the otherwise clean nose of the new gen MCS. Sounds like we are of a similar age: OLD.

Sectos,
Welcome to 1Addicts. Lyon is indeed beautiful country, and you have good taste in cars as well. Come late May next year we should be blasting through Lyon on the way from the Italian Lake District to Paris--in the new 135i, of course.

Thanks for the welcome
atr hugo and mikeo,
Thanks for the welcome. I don't feel old. Hope that doesn't make me a menace on the road. Tomorrow I plan to test drive a 335i. Call it an over-size preview. |

Delighted to find this site as my wife refuses to talk with me about cars. We have an '04 325i, a '95 911 and an '05 Cooper S with modifications. I'm hoping for my next car with the solid feel of the BMW and the tossability of the MINI. I wonder if the weight and feel of the 135i will be too close to the 335i which now appears to be more of a GT than a sports car, in spite of its performance numbers. Any guesses when the 135i cabrio will be available in the U.S.? Thanks, Cody Joaquin

New to the BMW world!
This new 135i coming out will be a great car from what have read. There aren't too many rwd, turbo cars out that are in this price range. This car will be a huge success in the states. I plan to get one when they come out, but want to see it there is a huge mark up. Untill then I look forward to learning about these cars on here.

Time to give up the mini?
 Well the big question at hand is whether to let go of my 2004 MINI Cooper S to move into the 135i. I think I have my wife convinced to do the European Delivery deal for our 25th anniversary this coming June. I really like the looks of the 135i & if the pricing comes in somewhere around the $31k base price I think it looks like a good move.

Hi all, Bay Area here.
Hey All, thanks Harold for the invite to say hello. My name is Kerry (guy) and I’m in the SF Bay Area and currently on 2 lists for the 135i. Driving an Audi A3 sport since spring 05 (great little sport/econ car + fantastic Direct Shift Gearbox ‘DSG’) but I can’t wait to mature to the E82, the sublime twin-turbo and that only in a BMW feel. Well, today’s the first day of Fall…only one more season to go!
Cheers Kerry 135idrive |

Hey Guys, looks like a great forum. All the information has been super helpful. I currently drive an 03 350Z which I've had for five years now. Great car and have no complaints, but after 5 years it's time for something new. I'm sure the 135 will be just as fun. Can't wait to get into a 135 in the Spring.

Greeting all
Like many others here I fell in love with the 135i the moment I saw it. I can't wait to get my hands on one.
I love my 330ci but the 135i will be too much to resist. Looking forward to doing a lot of information sharing with you guys before it's release. |
