New (to me) toy - Boss 302

Hey all,

Just thought I'd post up one new eye candy photo. Picked this up yesterday. It's 2013 Boss 302 (non LS). Only driven it to from work really, and one stretch on a back road.

I used to own an 06 Saleen that we rebuilt after the motor blew, and it was a fun car but had the WORST seats anyone ever put in a car.

Has some power, and definitely has a mean growl with the side exhaust open. Not the brutal speed the Saleen had after building it, but definitely enough to break the speed limit in short order.

Overall it's much more comfortable than the previous mustang (06), and has some of the nicer things (HID lights, bluetooth, apps). That said, the Boss is a bit stripped down compared to some the options the regular GT gets. The recaros are nice and hold you well, but I wouldn't want to be any bigger as they'd be uncomfortable. I'm 6'1" and about 225 lbs.

If the 2015s are truly quicker with their track pack, I'd consider grabbing one in a few years once a config I want hits the used market.

Anyways, thought I'd share.

Old 06 Saleen:

Thats sweet! I have really become an American car fan lol. Mustangs, Corvettes and Vipers for me please!

I love the blue colour on the Boss! Grats and enjoy!

PS: I'd like to go up against a Boss 302 in my C63.

Same here. Growing up, they were building complete garbage for decades. They've stepped up in a massive way over the last 5-6 years and come up with a really impressive product line. We even bought our first American car (something I never thought I would do), a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Hemi. It's been great!

Looks great, I have a 2013 Grabber Blue GT in my driveway. Highly recommend the Roush front grill set from American Muscle, really makes the front end much more aggressive.

When I was younger I never thought I would like any American car in the future. But yes in the paat 6-7 years they have really stepped up. I guess the hit to the auto industry in 2008/2009 was good for something.

I still don't own an American car though. If I did, it would have to be either A C7, New Mustang, or the Viper.

Thanks guy for the comments.

I too have been impressed with the American auto industry for the most part in recent years. Even compared to the 2006 Mustang, the 2013 is quite a bit nicer. That said, 2015 looks to take it up even more, so it will be exciting to see where that goes. I'm sure it wont be long before the Ecoboost 4 cylinder is making more power than the Boss variant of the Coyote.

It's been awhile since I've driven something that handles this well. Driving a 325i and Volt for a few years has made me soft it seems . I do drive a motorcycle from time to time, but that's an entirely different feeling. Nice driving something that handles where I don't have to be paranoid about every driveway and rock on the roadway.

Definitely a bit more raw than the M3. The main thing that put me in this over the M3 was price to mileage ratio. For 39k I was looking at out of warranty (or nearly) M3's in the 40-60k mileage range. For that same price I have 2 years of main, and 6 years of extended warranty left and only 11k miles.

But still love the M3. My second car as an E36 M3/4/5.

Ya i feel you, completely understandable. I wanted more luxury and comfort, while still have some performance. you have to pay more for stuff like that haha.
