That is one big competitive swip by Michelin. Of course they think PAX is better.

But how many companies are installing PAX? PAX is very proprietary - one of the reasons it's not so popular.

In theory, PAX has some advantages over the EH2 RF systems but I haven't seen any direct comparisons between EH2 and PAX - that would be interesting.

I agree with this article but the one thing they didn’t say was that BMW recommends that RFT's not be repaired, that is assuming they can get them off without destroying the tire in the first place that’s why I have Goodyear F1 GS-D3's now.

Thats a lie because BMW repaired my runflat. I believe they say that in order to convince you to get you to puchase the tire warranty.

Here is a previous post of mine.

Some Tire shops will repair a RFT tire that is assuming they don’t destroy the tire taking it off the wheel. I got a nail in my tire at work I assume, 30 miles from work the flat tire light came on so I stopped and checked the pressure and it was 10 psi low so I drove 10 miles at 50 Mph to a gas station and filled it up and then went to Americas tire to have them fix it. No problem 1 hour later im back on the road tire fixed and 40 miles more to get home. So when I get home I take a good look at my tire and wheel and there is a 3 inch bulge in the side wall and they scratched my wheel. Now im running my 162's with Goodyear F1 GS-D3's and it rides a lot better and the traction is 100% better than the stock RTF's and there about $80 cheaper a tire

So do most people replace the OEM tires with no Run Flats when they need replacing?

It's not that runflats can't be repaired, but BMW recommends they not be repaired. I just had a tire replaced and asked my SA about repairing the tire. He said they specifically do not recommend repairing RFT due to safety and liability issues. I already had the hazard insurance so really doubt it's an issue of trying to sell the insurance.
