What are the known fixes for wastegate rattle ?

There was something about attaching a spring to the actuator rod and also something about using some sort of shim ? Anyone has actual pictures of what they did and helped ?

Replacing the vacuum hoses
Adjusting the actuator rod

What else ?

These are the ones I tried and none worked for me:
1. Search "redneck wastegate fix" it's a spring attached to the actuator rod to provide tension.
2. Add a shim behind the e-clip on the rod arm. I tried this, here's a pic. didn't do anything for me..

3. Try tuning to adjust the default wastegate position-also didn't work for me
4. Adjust the actuator rod-didn't work for me.

After trying all of these, I still had a rattle and so I am just living with it. Other things I haven't tried yet are:
1. check boost solenoids (my next step once I get time and $)
2. check front turbo

Thanks for your post. I noticed that on my car that small shim is not there anymore. I also already tried the spring thing and that didn't do anything.

JB4 does a half way decent job at masking it with WG fix.. but the only fullproof way to completely eliminate it is new upgraded turbos.. even my brand new BMW turbos rattled..

do you know how to check the solenoids for proper function?

Besides replacing them, no. Been trying to find a way to test mine

So the plan for me is to find some 3.5mm hose tonight and try replacing the damn vacuum hoses. I have added a link for that in first post. I will let you know if it helps. If it doesn't I will try to adjust the rod but it's a pain to get in there and it's rusted.

Guys. There are different types of rattle. It is important to determine which one you have.

Basically some instances of wastegate rattle can't be corrected without replacement. My front one rattled like hell and the wastegate valve shaft had tons of axial play. I didn't figure this out until I pulled them. A set of Rb's fixed the rattle and I picked up tons of power.

Rb's can rattle as well. I think Vargas turbos are the only ones I've heard of that don't rattle.....yet
