How do you tell someone their breath stinks?

Got this person at work, breath smells real bad...how do you tell someone about something like that. We tried hinting with mints and gum but he doesn't like to eat them and always refuse...

when in a group, make fun of a co-worker who is close to you.

He'll definitely check his breath....

Strait up tell them in private.. Or leave an nice note on their desk when they are gone, that way you dont have to be the bad person and no one else will know (assuming you keep your mouth shut).

Brushing doesn't always make ur breath better, it only helps for the first 30 minutes but after that it starts to go bad again. I suspect he has a decaying tooth or something is up with his stomach.

Just tell them...modified mint/gum approach. Go with passive/aggresive. Next time you encounter the breath...take one for yourself first, then say:

"Look, I don't mean to be rude, but I think you should take one of my mints also."

Sometimes people do not realize their breath stinks. Some people it due to not brushing teeth/tongue thoroughly, others its because of a strong recent meal, and some...its chronic heartburn. People that battle with acid reflux, can't help it. No matter how often they brush, the odor comes from food processing and acid the regurgitates into the esophagus. It happens enough that they do not realize that their breath smells.

Just dry heave every time they talk to you. Seriously, just try and do a VERY subtle grimace when you catch wind of their breath. They'll pick up on the vibe, and maybe realize their breath stinks. Maybe just a slight eyelid flutter with a brief head nod backwards. Make sure they see this body language from you when they talk to you.

I think it's to their benefit they're told as soon as possible. They're your friends, right? The hint will probably make them feel like, I'll give them something at the same time to make them feel like . And hopefully we have > , so they end up

This exact same question word for word, has been presented in several of my business classes.

Usually what is said is

1. Why should you suffer
2. It impacts meetings and productivity thus the company suffers
3. it could potentially turn away a new client or current client

The best solution is not to "gang" up on him or run around the office talking with everyone. But to pull him aside and be nice and respectful and ask him if he could spend a little more time on his personal hygiene.

Its no different than when a fat person sits next to you on the plane, you politely ask for a new seat since you are uncomfortable.

Is he of a bigger role than you?

If not, next time they're talking and you're with another person, say to them, "oh man! It smells like a racoon just died in here...do you smell that??"

Or you can just repeatedly offer them mints....
