I would go with a Lada Niva. At least it’s quirky and rare (never seen one in US).

4 seats, can actually fit adult humans in the back comfortably
V12 NA engine, sounds unbelievable with aftermarket exhaust, tons of power
Easy to get in and out of
Very comfortable, great seating position. Probably the most comfortable exotic there is.
Still one of the best looking "unique" cars ever made IMO
Did I mention the V12 engine? It has a V12 engine.

-Ferrari FF was manufactured 2011-2016
-Chose a middle of the production cycle (2014)
-2014 Ferrari FF: $140,000

While we are congratulatory that you can afford a DD that's $140K....the OP was for a car in the $30K range....it's a bit of an in-your-face to suggest a DD that is appx 450% more.

Your car is beautiful; such an incredible ride....congrats.

Our daughter's 21 Mazda SUV has the soul crystal red....it's awesome; I researched it and it's 4 applications of paint and is perhaps the best metallic app on a new car out there.

The title of the post says “what’s your unique daily driver?”

I didn’t say he should buy one. Anyone who can afford one definitely should though!

It's cool, while the intent is a suggestion, I asked everyone to post their unique dd's regardless of my criteria.

Have you actually tried it? It reminds me of early iDrive. It sucks if you use it for five minutes, it actually makes sense if you use it every day. Its also better after the latest software update, but it would be nice if the GTI/R had the OTA updates like the ID4.

I have a Mk7.5 GTI and it's a perfect DD. I have a Mk8 R on order. Pricing has taken a big uptick on the GTI though, making a sub $30k GTI unlikely, even my 4 year old one that I paid well under $30k for will likely be listed for at least $30k once I trade it in.

Yes, a friend of mine had rented an id4 for a few days since he's wanted a new EV SUV daily, I tried out the new system in that vehicle and was really annoyed with the HVAC and Media controls, especially at night since nothing lights up. The whole infotainment itself was also incredibly laggy and unresponsive. Maybe they've fixed this for the Golf? Either way, the Mk7.5 is the sweet spot for me, and VW knows they've botched it, they demoted the head of the Software division, so I'd expect VW will likely be updating the system for the better with future models and/or refreshes.

Yeah these prices are insane. Value retention is nuts right now. I just hope the bubble burst either comes very soon or holds off for a year or two haha!

MkVI looks to be more my price range. Plus I would like a 2 door manual to remind me of the MkII I drove in high school.

A few years ago I wanted to buy an FJ and now I really wish I did. This is the type of weird daily I would love to have.

Yeah, there were also no two door Mk7 R's. The Mk6 was good and they definitely respond well to tunes.

I wanted to like those but I can't see out of them, they have terrible sight lines and I'm not that tall, just 6'2".

I have yet to drive one. I just loved the look of it and the ability to do some light off roading. I heard they don't drive on the highway particularly well.

And actually, some of the higher mileage FJ's are pretty cheap.

The FJ is sweet but prices for them are nuts. I really hope Toyota decides to make a more modern updated version of it.

4Runner then? TRD-Pro in some special color?
Not as much unique though but that totally depends on what mods you do on it...

Already chipped to 320 HP, will make near 400hp easily
Reliable drive train
  • Manual
  • Wagon
  • Cheap
  • Cheap parts (it's a fucking malibu essentially)
  • Goes like stink
  • Looks cool as
  • Practical

Drop 12K on it all up, purchase price, up the power, Tweak the suspension and throw some 19' under it.

Will eat GOLF's for breakfast on half your 30K budget.

Not that you're gonna go shopping for one but for shits and giggle, the FWD V6 is the one to get. The AWD is an old Haldex unit that is heavy and unreliable. The 2T has an issue with the valves, i replaced mine but I have had the car 12 years.

The V6 is TOUGH to find in that body shape (2008-2011) not in AWD.

The engine is SERIOUSLY under tuned, it takes extremely well to tunes and is a solid engine. The car is pretty solid but watch for rust in snow belt.

This guy did a decent job.....
