6D + TS-E 17mm f/4L handheld, manual focus, neither tilted nor shifted

Shadows brought up in LR4 a LOT (like, shadow slider to 100, then an overlay with shadow slider again to 100!) - there's lots of noise but I'd say it's printable even 11x14 or so...

David,

Bring up your image in PS and go to Channels. Turn off everything but the Blue channel and highlight that. Go to Filters => Blur => Surface Blur and apply a filter with Radius 5 and Threshold 5 (or thereabouts), now do the same for the Green channel. When you go back to RGB, your noise should be greatly reduced without a noticeable drop in clarity.

Is there a LR-only solution?

Thanks Mark,

I'll try that. I was too lazy to go into PS this morning

I noticed when I did noise reduction and then sharpening in LR4, it didn't look right.. I never like the look of over-sharpened trees, skies, clouds, nature in general, etc.

I'm also curious about an LR-only solution...

I don't have LR, so I can't answer that. I would think if you can edit by channels in LR, you could do it. If not, then I guess you're stuck with PS.

Woody by dcstep, on Flickr

This is a high-end 1950s woody, but I forget which. Packard, I think.

(Belatedly, I did a Flickr search and found a Chrysler woody that looks exactly like this).

After 2 years of sitting in the same place every night, Carl decided to sit on the opposite couch this evening. You would have to ask him why.

Clearly, from the look in his eyes, he views you with contempt. He's probably analyzing your behavior from a different vantage point, while preparing for his next attack.

Thanks for the compliment.
I grew up around Seattle. I retired from the military (USAF) in Hawaii. Now I plan to move back to the Seattle area when I retire from the feds next year.

LoL! The only thing Carl attacks is his kibble bowl, and the errant moth that gets into the house. OK, and maybe his brother!

I retired from the AF after 21 years in 2005, and I've been with the feds now for the last 6, but I don't think I am going to last much longer. I want to be done with work!
