Nice ones Mark and Dave.

I haven't been to London in 15 years, and would love to get back.

I hear owls far more often then I see them. Love those big fat lethal talons!

Thanks Ed.

Now's your best possible time to find owls, while they have owlets in the nest. They take over abandoned hawks' nests, usually pretty high in a tree, on the edge of a thick wood. A wood with a meadow by it is a favored nesting site. The rest of the year, they perch deep in the woods. They blend into the tree bark, so you're mainly looking for out of place shapes. There's a saying, "You can look straight into an owl's eyes and not see it."

Thanks Mark.

The file is 3464x3464 pixels, from my 7D at 280mm (70-200/f4 with 1.4x TC), so there's only the crop to square and just a little more to balance top and bottom spacing. The 7D is excellent in good light and when you don't need too big a crop. It's hard to believe that it's five-years old. (Come on Canon, time to update it ).

So he was close. Nice. I can't even get close to the cardinals in my yard.

So were you really close, Gary? Or is that a major crop?

Thanks, my studio had some nice natural light coming in so I decided to turn the strobe off for a minute and get some shots with it.

I ordered two and put the new 200-600mm zoom on pre-order at B&H.

Snow, Bench, Bush and Tree

I woke up to a 6-inch, heavy, wet, sloppy snow yesterday and decided to shoot an hour or so before reporting to work.
