Help deciding among the most effective among the ineffective intercoolers.

Hi guys!

I run a 335dT as a daily driver. I do about 20.600 miles/year in it. Removed DPF, BMC air filter in OEM box, stock exhaust, stock IC, EGR. Boost is 2.7 bar (39.16026 psi) mapped by DieselPower in Norway.
Dyno says 313.34WHp/573.15WNm. When recalculated for loss over drivetrain that should give 365Hp/751Nm on crank. (also did a dyno when 100% stock to measure the loss over drivetrain)

Now my IC's given up (leaking), and also the red hose from the turbo to IC. New hose ordered from Forge.(http://www.bar-tek-tuning.com/forge+...ftschlauch.htm)
But after reading up on intercoolers for hours I still cant decide which IC to buy. Im not gonna spend $1000 on a IC so here are the four ones I'm choosing between. I know that they are all chinese crap in many peoples eyes, but I'd like to give it a go and learn from my misstakes.

Plans: EGR removal, IC and plumbing upgrade, separate CCV tank, and possibly a better exhaust. And a remap after all this has been done.

So, all you flow and boost experts out there, could you rate these from 1-4?
1st: 26"x6"x5" (core 20"x6"x5")
http://www.ebay.com/itm/TWIN-TURBO-I...item2339ea637f

2nd: 27"x6"x6" (core 22"x6"x6")
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Front-Mount-...#ht_1935wt_995

3rd: 24,5"x11.8".3" (core 17.71"x11.8"x3")
http://shop.klracing.se/sv/artiklar/...akanslutn.html

4th: 24,5"x11.8".4" (core 17.71"x11.8"x4")
http://shop.klracing.se/sv/artiklar/...akanslutn.html

I know that the last two has, how should I put it without hurting anyones feelings, less appropriate designed endtanks. (just as good as a roulette table shaped as a square?) And then some people says that the thicker core on the other modells are ineffective in other ways.

It would be really fun to get the experts ideas on this matter.

Thanks in advance guys.

//Anders.

When it was just tuned I ran 2.7 bar at the peak and then it settled at 2.5-2.6 bar. Now because of leaking IC I'm down to about 2.3-2.4 bar.

The tacho said 145.000km then I did the DPF removal and now it's at 255.000km.

Anyhow, this went offtopic.

Inputs on the IC's?

I've read that some people run the KL Racing (aka Big Tom?) IC and are happy about it. But I am extremely sceptic to that endtank construction. Just like I said previously, It feels just as logic as a square shaped roulette table.
However, some people say that a core as thick as 5"-6" is worthless. So the question is what is the most effective of two ineffective things.

If you can get your 4th option to fit in the space and it can operate with the design pressure, this one of the four options would be the one you want.

Will VRSF ship to you? Their prices were pretty inexpensive compared to other equivalent intercoolers as of a couple years ago.

That one looked nice but I'm looking at about $117 shipping to Sweden for that one and that is $200 over the most expensive one among the four ones I'm looking at.

NSN just plug and play

janebrink I dont think it would be feasible in your area where temps range differently than down here, i recommend it for hot and humid areas

He is running 10 PSI over stock, he almost certainly would benefit from a larger intercooler regardless of outdoor temps. I havent seen the efficiency maps on our turbos, but theres about a 100% chance he is pushing the turbo way past its efficient range and as such putting a lot of extra heat into the intake air.

No problemo my friend. It should fit your car better than ours the IC was made from a 335d Touring and we had to trim a little bit from our lower fascia here in the states. It gave me around 12 whp i believe it was and it will not heat soak on me
