330i sport shocks replacement

I got an 330i 2006 with the sport package. Both of my rear shocks are leaking and I want to replace them but I have a really hard time to find the right components. I want some Bilstein but I cant find any parts number for my car with the sport option

I took a look on ecs tuning and the part number is different from the bilstein website
The part number from the Bilstein website seems to be for 335i, can someone help me find the right part number lol

You can use 335i shocks no problem

Bilstein B8 is the sport shock for lowerign springs I believe.
Bilstein B6 is Bilstien HD in NorthAmerica - ist more for OEM sport

B6 is for non-lowered cars.
B8 is for factory lowered M sport suspension - fits perfect with factory springs.

I have to differ from the posts above. I have been informed by Bilstein that the following are the guidelines for these cars.

B6 (HD) is for factory springs - BOTH sport and non-sport springs
B8 (sport) is for use with aftermarket lowering springs - e.g. eibach or H&R

Does the B6 or HD offer improved handling while maintaining ride comfort? I do not track my car but just want it to handle better. Ride comfort is important to me. Is the B6 what I should go for?

The b6 and b8 are valved identically and they both improve dampening tremendously making your car very stable at high speeds and taking the fear out of hitting big holes that slam the stock suspension. The difference between the 2 models is the length of the units, with the b8 being shorter for dropped cars.

Here is what Bilstein on-line catalog says:

BILSTEIN - B6 Adjustable 10
Gas Pressure, for vehicles with standard chassis

BILSTEIN - B6 SPORT
Gas Pressure, for vehicles with standard chassis

BILSTEIN - B8 SPRINT
Gas Pressure, for vehicles with M-technology

BILSTEIN - B4 Gas (Ersatzteil)
Gas Pressure, for vehicles with standard chassis

BILSTEIN - B4 Gas (Ersatzteil)
Gas Pressure, for vehicles with sports suspension

Based on this there is no B6 for sport suspension.
M-technology springs are lowering very similarly to typical Eibach (eg. ProKit) or H&R - I guess it is -25mm and -35mm respectively - so shorter shock B8 will work better with it, than stock length B6 or B4.
I followed this classification and for my car with option S704A (M Sports suspension), I picked B8 and I am more than happy.

Thanks for the information cypis007. My LCI E90 has the sports suspension (not M sport). Would the B6 still apply in my case?

M-technology=BMW Performance. Not to be confused with M-Sport=sport suspension.

Putting these in your car will be a revelation.

I believe M technology in this case is the BMW performance suspension package that is lowered from the m-sport/sport suspension, yes definitely B8 for those yellow springs. I have had Bilstein themselves and several Bilstein reps in the US tell me that the B6 is for both std and Msport/sport suspension and B8 is for after market lowered springs. It probably isn't a case of they won't work, just what Bilstein recommends. I could see using the B8 on sport suspension would alleviate some of the complaints of a 1/2" ride height increase due to the gas pressure on new B6 installs.

I think the specs are BMW sport suspension is 1/2" lower than non-sport and eibachs lower non-sport by 1", so they lower sport by 1/2". So this whole discussion is about 1/2", that is probably why B8 and B6 will work with sport suspension, just Bilstein recommends the B6.

Notice in the description of the B8 and the B4, they call out a difference between M-technology and Sports suspension.

andrey_gta, thanks for the information on Canadian Sport suspension. Does that mean there is no such thing as M-Sport in Canada?

What's the difference between B4 and B6? Does the B4 offer more ride comfort than the B6?

sport and msport are the same thing.

B4 are oem type twin tube shocks. B6 and B8 are monotube design - what many people consider a vastly superior design in many aspects.

Thanks cdgatti. So back to my question -- handling aside, does B4 offer better ride comfort than B6, which in turn offers better ride comfort than B8? Is that the correct interpretation?
