In either of the designs you will have stratified flows across the core. The face area is better on the KLracing and the other is a better heat sink. If you can get consistent flow across the KL racing core then it is also the one that would perform better, but until performance data is available, it is only conjecture.
Our cars don't really have much space above the OEM HEX that would allow good unrestricted airflow. For myself I would probably just get the one Axel has on his car because it fits and there is data for that unit.
