Weather Underground, is now showing landfall around Homestead. Bad news for Miami, 'IF' accurate.

From what i understand if Houston gets a typical Tampa area afternoon thunder storm, they flood. I don't believe their flooding was storm surge. But rather the result of 50+ inches of rain fall over the course of 24 hours.

I'm not leaving town, but i'm in Lutz, 62' above sea level in a home built in 2009 to St Pete beach hurricane code. I did have some suspect trees removed today. One leaning towards my house, the other leaning towards my neighbors house. Hopefully that will mitigate most of the potential damage. With as much rain as has saturate the ground around here, downed trees should be expected.
Try to think on everything... Stay safe my friend !

I don't envy you FL folks knowing your entire weekend is going to suck at best, and possibly be much worse than suck. Best of luck to you all. I'm hoping the storm doesn't beat the hype. In this case a dud is a good thing.

If you're staying and can take that same pic during the storm surge, I'd appreciate it. My house is just to the right of center in that frame

This is a crazy picture, comparing the relative sizes of Hurricane Andrew to Hurricane Irma. Amazing how big this storm is:

We are Austin to Houston.
Good luck, Man. I hope it works out for you.

BMW's moved out of Charleston port

Charleston, SC port commissioner just indicated live on the Weather Channel that thousands of BMW vehicles have been moved out of the port in prep for potential hurricane impact. He mentioned that only 45 BMW vehicles remain at the Charleston port.

Anyone with the means to get out that doesn't is nuts. The eyewall on this thing is huge. Even if the eye doesn't pass directly over you the strong winds will cover the entire state.
