Don't tell anyone, but the R35 isn't even breaking the Top 5 for season Championship points in the GT1 class.

Which I'm sure has more to do with the amount of money the teams have to throw at the car than with the basic worthiness of the car.

anyone know why porsche is not in gt1 but focus more on the slower class such as gt2, gt3?

it would be cool if every factories are compete in gt1. in fact, they should make it mandatory for all sport cars manufacturers.

Apparently not as competitive as the GT2 and GT3 class racing. Corvettes while leading are dropping the GT1 class also.

Maybe you should look it up before you make idiotic statements like that. Sumo Power GT are currently in 3rd place in the FIA GT1 World Championships.

I haven't been keeping up with the GT1 class, they barely passed by the two AMR cars by 2 points which dropped them into 3rd, but far from 2nd and 1st. I think it's respectable that a GTR "might" place in FIA GT's least restricted class. They're still getting their ass kicked by a Maserati. Still, Good job for the GT-R fanboys. If they end up placing, it would be the first time an R35 has placed in a major series in 4 years of production. That doesn't spell "rich racing heritage".

Anyway relax Mikey, are all Volvo and Mini drivers as wound up as you? It's just an internet car discussion.

GT2 and GT3 have the highest amount of restrictions, particularly GT3 which has restrictions on engineering during the run of the season, unlike GT2 and GT1. Basically in GT3 you get a race version of the road car.

It just annoys me that fanboys like you make such blatant bullshit comments without being able to back them up.

The GTR has decades of rich racing heritage, it's an undeniable fact.

With FIA GT3 and GT2 classes no professional drivers are allowed so it's mostly rich boys and there toys, the racing is boring because of it.

The Alpina B6 GT3 is being turned into a GT1 car for 2011 so the class is picking up interest.

Don't bother, he just can't deal with the fact that a "ricey Nissan" is faster than his almighty P-car. You know there is no substitute...

For me it's not even a debate about whether the car has a rich racing heritage or not, it's now about why you have to act like such a child online?

Would you talk like this to someone face to face at a Cars & Coffee meet? You have to ask yourself why you're so mad about a peaceful debate discussing a car neither of us own.

This is the second time you've attacked me for owning a Porsche. Why would I be "mad" about the GTR?

Many, many Porsche owners, could afford to buy a GTR today if they chose to, no problem. You have to ask yourself with that in mind, if what you're accusing me of is simple projection.

I'm not "attacking" you for owning a Porsche. I'm ridiculing you for believing that there is no other great supercar out there other than a Porsche. The GT-R happens to be one of them so deal with it.

Btw, I love 911's, just not generally the guys that own them....

Well that's not very nice. I think there are just as many d-bags for any car forum. It is not limited to P-cars, Bimmers etc. D-bags are D-bags and they are not limited by the car they drive.

I'm not mad, it's just that you can't accept that the GTR is a great car, personally I wouldn't own one, I wouldn't buy a 911 either for that matter, all your talk about no race history is rubbish, and yes I would say it too your face.

No reason to get personal guys, it's only a car forum.

MediaArtist, I too love Porsche and would chose Porsche over a Nissan but I can fully appreciate what Nissan have achieved with this car, they set out to rock the establishment and boy did they do just that. As for your comments that the GTR lacks the racing heritage, well that have been proven quite convincingly, it might not have the same amount as Porsche but then again what brand does.

footie nailed it. i wouldn't judge a car solely because it has less racing victories than porsche. that just doesn't make sense when really everybody are buying cars for the street.

you can believe what you want, but none of these car are true race car including the gt3 rs. the gt3 race car is 26000 lbs with full cage, race brake, straight pipe, etc......
