This is one of my favorite Foo Fighters songs though it isn't one that many people would recognize (unless you're a diehard fan) most likely as it's not one of their hit songs. This came from their album in 2014 "Sonic Highways" (can't believe it has already been 8 years).
This is the video of the track "Subterranean" and the other vid is the making of this song. There's a lot of interesting interaction in the studio including Grohl and Hawkins. Funny, entertaining stuff. Not shown in this making-of video is the back story (genesis of "Subterranean") and what led to this song. It was recorded in an interesting studio in Seattle. In the documentary about the making of Sonic Highways, Grohl talks about the tragic loss of Kurt Cobain and the hell he went through after that. Now he is having to deal with another loss in his life. |

LZ was my main thing in those days, it's good to give another listen. Page's fuzzed out Les Paul reminds of Tony Iommi's SG.
Similar sounds from different bands, same time period. |

I’m still blown away every time I hear Stairway to Heaven.

Thanks for the link. The ladies of Heart certainly knew/know how to rock.

Interesting. They had me until the violins and choir started. Would have been better to hear the female solo voice interpretation. Cool to see Page and Plant in the audience. |
