Here's a little medical advice: get to the ER, you're likely dehydrated and will -- at a minimum-- need IV rehydration. In the interim, keep drinking fluids even if it does seem to pass right through. Fluids should be the priority here and not necessarily solid food. Bottom line -- you need fluid rehydration otherwise bad things can happen.

I'm a lean guy at a full 6'2-6'3 and 160. I had a similar situation except I was also throwing up every 15 minutes, literally for about 10 straight hours. I lost 15 pounds in that time, so it was getting insane. If you've been dealing with this since Thursday, that's crazy.
It happened on a holiday weekend, so there was no choice but to go to the hospital. I literally felt like I was going to die. The hospital did several tests on me including a cat scan (don't ask me why). They were concerned I might have some serious condition because of what was in my urine at the time, but it turned out to be negative. I saw 3-4 doctors and don't remember much because I was so weak and nauseous. All told, the hospital bill was $13,000 for about a half day there. Insurance negotiated it to $4,400 or something and I ended up paying about $200 out of pocket. Looking back, it was worth it because I had a good insurance and I was incredibly sick. That said, I wouldn't go to the hospital unless you felt like I did (maybe near death) because they might have to do a bunch of precautionary testing and it will cost a mint. I'm sure they did a lot of stuff they didn't need to, but they couldn't say that it was food poisoning, so they wanted to be extra careful. Hospitals don't mess around, especially if you're young. The fact you are even making a thread and responding probably means you don't feel as bad as I did. I could barely move except to go to the bathroom. Whatever they gave me in the 2 IVs, I felt better within hours. I know one drug was given to cancer patients for nausea. Good luck, this is terrible. dude i had the same shit happen to me after eating chinese once. i popped one steamed dumpling in my mouth and just ate it without thinking about it until after i swallowed it. it was warm on the outside, but mushy and cold in the middle. i didn't eat any more of them, but shit and puked my guts out for 3 days. the second day was the worst. i was puking and shitting so bad that i pretty much had to just sit in the shower and let what i couldn't control happen because i was afraid of accidents. it was violent and i hope to never experience that again. i'll never forget that bout of the trots.

Ahh man it sucks. I've had food poisoning plenty of times. The worst one is when I had some bad sushi and had a bad case of the shits like you. By the second day, I had a fever and the chills. I couldn't brave it anymore and went to the hospital. After some morphine and an IV to rehydrate me, I was all good. Hope you do the same but in the meantime drink Pedialyte. Good luck.

Wow! What's the record, and how close are you to breaking it?
Man...I had a mini version of that happen to me in a $10 Thai hotel room about 6 years ago from eating Fillet Mignon at one of the nicer restaurants in Chaing Mai. Fortunately it only lasted about a day. Seriously dude...go to the doctor before you become deathly ill. THAT will be expensive, and make it difficult to hold a job. It sucks that medical care is expensive....but guess what: TOP NOTCH MEDICAL CARE IS AVAILABLE and will be given to you even if it's later discovered you can't afford it. Dirt bags go to the ER every time they have a sniffel...so I think you're OK seeing as you're seriously sick. Maybe if you and your buds go in at once you can have a good case to have the restaurant pay. Dehydration due to food and water borne illness is actually one of the leading killers in the world. You might get better on your own, but it isn't guaranteed. Medical care is often expensive, but it's worth it. If you're not significantly better by morning cut your losses and go in. Spool, listen carefully.. Your biggest risk right now is dehydration. Get a 1 liter bottle, put 6 teaspoons of sugar and one teaspoon of table salt, fill the bottle with water. Drink the consistently during the day as much as you can tolerate.
You should go to the MD. If you don't watch what your passing and if t turns bloody, it's very possibly E.Coli and you then have no choice, you've got to go. |

Dude just go to the hospital or at least urgent care. Avoiding a bill isn't worth even more health complications/death. Get it sorted out now before you get worse and you have to pay even more.
Hope it all works out for you buddy

you said you have severe headaches so it sounds like you might have Gastroenteritis......you should have checked yourself into an urgent care or something.

Go to urgent care, its much less then visiting a hospital and see what the doctor says. I had symptoms similar to yours that lasted about a week. I ended up having some form of flu that would basically make me shit every half hour. Wish i could remember the medicine the doctor prescribed me. Worst part is i got the sickness the day i left out of town so driving in the desert every gas station i had to stop to take a shit. Worst trip ive ever had

Why hasn't anyone mentioned the possibility of salmonella?
Spool: I thought I had food poisoning in Puerto Vallarta (thank you shitty seafood restaurant) and spent a hell-night much like the one u mentioned. I had to get admitted to the local hospital down there. It was clear nothing was getting any better and I needed to get the f**k outta Dodge; back to a home-hospital. They refused to discharge me until their legal department drafted a waiver (4 hrs ) saying that I wouldn't sue the hospital in the event of my death en route to home (the whole document was in Spanish - wtf). Anyhow, got home - straight to hospital, where they filled me with 6 bags of saline (drip) before I took my first pee. Diagnosis: salmonella. By that time I was already doing the funky-bacon dance and had to be restrained in my gurney. Moral of the story - get yourself to a hospital and forget the home-remedies (Prep H & Pepto - really?). Things like this can be a lot more serious than they appear, and it happens fast. Get well soon |

That's crazy Spool... I got dehydrated once and almost fainted from puking and shitting myself in a DAY. Took an ambulance to the hospital and got 6 bags of IV in me... Got hit with a $1600 med bill too but unlike u, I have insurance and didn't pay a dime.
Let us know what happens bro feel better soon...
