Just remember that we live a life of luxury in the US. Don't be shocked that somebody actually lived like this. We might have systems in place so things like this don't happen, but the rest of the world doesn't give a shit.

you'd be surprised at how quickly you grow up when you're under constant psychological and physical siege.

great story, in any case, hope life goes well for him from now on. at least he's not a drunkard like ted williams.

im just surprised how no one saw this poor kid on the streets and didn't help him out in some way....some type of homeless shelter or something.....there's gotta be some laws that protect kids like that in korea, no?

My wife is Korean. The English translation didn't do justice to what he said. My wife was crying throughout the entire song.

Hope he does well and someone gives him a nice recording contract. He deserves it after what he 's been through.

There was some bad media on the news about him lying. he said that he's never had experience/ lessons before but apparently he did take classes for a short period during middle school.

Nonetheless, what an inspirational story and I hope the best for him.

Different people react to things differently. In Vietnam there are plenty of kids that pretty much survive on their own selling lottery tickets or begging for money. It's unbelievable how young some of them are.

The producers "cut" the part where he said he had some opera experience because it made a better story.

Parts of South Korea in the bigger cities see -10 to -20 in the winters. I don't know how anyone could survive outside. With a shi* load of clothes on I can barely stay outside for a few minutes. I can't imagine how anyone could survive on the streets in their winters. You rarely see any homeless people in Seoul because of the extreme whether conditions in the winter lol..

Didn't he say that he didn't attend middle school? Took the GED or whatever and high school was his first real schooling? was that badly translated?

You make it sound like Seoul is in Siberia haha! Seoul has roughly the same climate as New York City, and believe me there are plenty of homeless there.

What's sad is how people have to go through times like that. No one deserves to be treated like garbage being dumped into an orphanage at such a young age.

I raise you with America.
