Absolutely

What a beautiful car; and silver shows off the lines so well. Steve always did understand good design.

I had a white knuckle moment in a brand-new Z8. I just put rims and non-run flat tires on it and over estimated the grip of non-scrubbed-in tires. Luckily the 4-wheel drift scrubbed them in before I hit anything!

Side note: I still recall the tire+rim swap saved 12 lbs per rear wheel; and 7 lbs per front wheel. The Z8 definitely got lighter on its feet after that upgrade.

Produced from 1999-2003
The US uses model years, so 2000 would be the first model year.

Easy way to remember, The World is Not Enough was released in theatres in late 1999

first model was a 2001. may have been made in 2000 but the model years were 2001 start date. See if you can find a 2000 model for sale. I have been trying to find one online since I read the article. Im going to run the vin and see what it comes up as lol I'm curious now!

Meh, this car has aged quite poorly to me. Didn't really find it attractive even when it first appeared. Before you flame, it's just my opinion, I don't need you to agree with me.

just found that very surprising since myself and everyone at the store didn't realize there was a 2000 model. Sr Thomas drove a alpina z8 (never registered it) which was a 2003 I believe. the vin def shows a 2000 so I def stand corrected. Confused but corrected

Always loved the Z8. Especially the ass. The engine noises it made was insane too!

I dont see the steel strut brace and steel strut supports with reinforcement rings which improve the stability in the front part of the
vehicle.

A very similar example with around 18k on the odometer is the most memorable and expensive car I have ever driven, with less celebrity associated, but still owned by the original buyer, it would easily fetch well over $200k on the auction block, but he wouldn't part with it. It was almost by accident I got to drive it.

"If you're not in a hurry today, could we take it for a brief drive?" I asked. I was standing on the passenger side when I asked, and didn't mean to imply I was to be at the wheel. My client showed he knew the car was in trustworthy hands with me at the wheel when he quickly said "Oh, sure, you can drive it!"

Though I graciously accepted his offer, I stayed FAR behind other cars on the road to protect the paint. I took cornering to a 6 on my 10 scale for the sake of the hard to find tire size. I DID do him the favor of clearing the carbon out of the S62 a couple of times.

The car is no racecar, but just an all around joy to drive and cruise in. Also, notably the only Z car produced to date that allows room for the perfect driving position for my 6'3" frame with room to spare.

Great story. That must have been awesome to drive. I've seen 1 or 2 at my local BMW dealership over the years that were getting some maintenance done. Never had the pleasure of driving one. Lucky bastard!

I suppose those that thought there was no 2000 model weren't fanatics about the E39 M5 and Z8 back then?
