Also want to add;
LeClercs overtake on Perez was magnificent. Watching Max vs Charles battle is what I want to see every race. |

True, and also that they solve it this way post race.
I understand that the FIA don't want pieces falling off cars in a race, but from what I understand is that HAAS already contacted the race director multiple times during the race to bring this under their attention and solve it. Their reply was that they were 'looking into it', but clearly not enough otherwise they would have intervened and it could have been solved in the race in situ, during a tyre change or so (demanding that the team brings the car in to fix the issue, without even giving a penalty). That this was a pressing matter is underlined by that the FIA thinks it's necessairy to give a penalty post race because it posed a safety hazard. But in the end this is a failure of the race director, not a failure of Alonso or Alpine. So this is imho the 2nd time in a row that the FIA race directors make a mistake that concerns a safety issue: after last race is Suzuka, Freitas has been put on non active because of that crazy crane incident, and now Wittich doesn't handle the situation when it occurs but ALO is punished afterwards? Handling a safety situation afterwards has no meaning compared to handling when it occurs then and there imho. So this is more a mistake from the race director than a mistake from ALO or Alpine. Maybe appointing Freitas and Wittich over the experienced Masi wasn't such a good choice, looking at these safety failures.

Also - they need to quit airing Russell's radio chat - between him patting himself on the back last race for a good move and then him saying SAI cut across him this time - he is really not doing himself any favors with fans. Saw that this morning - that was absolutely horrible. He should have said no when they asked him since he obviously didn't want to be there. Quote:

Red Bull was NOT the best car all season, in fact, I think only recently did Red Bull start to pull away from Ferrari but it's not even by much - look at how hard Charles battled with Max at COTA. Terrible strategy, reliability and a few driver errors does not make Ferrari any less worthy of credit for designing one of the most ridiculous cars of 2022. Ferrari is the STRONGEST car in F1 but they're limited by front tire slip and reliability so it gives the illusion that the RB18 is the strongest car. They're close, they're a better team and they figured out the new tires early. Ferrari is setup for 2023 dominance if they can tackle these two things - at least for LeClerc. I think they're too sloppy for a constructor for now. If you could scale the current era with how insane the Mercedes was, it would be like comparing the RB18 to the FW44 for most of the previous era with the FW44 being the #2 car after Merc. They comment about Spa as if they forgot Brazil 2021. Even Abu Dhabi - if Lewis had just a LITTLE more grip to corner, he was literally flying past Max on the last lap at every straight. I get it - I'd probably say some silly chit too if Max started losing but you just witnessed the most dominant constructor era of all time in F1 - stop crying. |

Alonso's Austin 2022 race is already legendary. Never seen this before.
The 30s. penalty he got today is a total disgrace. Fans and haters agree: this man has balls of steel. After crashing heavily in Melbourne back in 2016 he said: my mum watches TV so I wanted to get out quickly and say I'm okay.

It'd be nice to see max have to drive directly against someone as challenging as an alonso or rosberg on the same team. |

I'm pretty sure Alonso has already made statements about Verstappen's greatness and let's be serious, the majority of Lewis' run was with weaker teamates and he lost to Nico even though I think Lewis is the better driver. Nico just did everything he had to that season. 2016 is one of my favorite seasons. |

Really fun race yesterday! 20 degrees cooler and it would have been a perfect day!
When Alonso went nose up, I thought of Webber in 1999. I shudder to think how bad it could have been if he had flipped and landed in the infield. |

As far as Alonso goes, for sure but to be fair - he may not be good now but Danny Ric beat Vettel at Red Bull. Max beat Danny Ric.
