we have a guy in my neighborhood who wears mittens (no individual finger holes) all year round, even 110 degree summer weather

mostly he just walks around although sometimes he hits himself in the head and yells as he walks.

I've seen a lady in san leandro, and a lady in san luis obispo just walking with headphones on and screaming.

Must be a sort of common mental condition

Wow, you didn't stick around to make sure the woman and infant didn't get attacked? Or at least call the cops just to be safe?

The only way the police will intervene is if the person in question is going to harm you or you are going to harm the person in question.

I had the same thing happen to me after college. A young man decided to place his schizophrenic mother in the apartment across from me.

One day I was coming down the hallway to enter my apartment and this woman with long gray hair and in a light blue nightgown jumps out of her apartment and starts yelling at me telling me saying “That I don’t live here!”

She was saying, “You waxed that key!” Get out of here etc. I called the police and they said there was nothing they could do.

The next day, she jumped out at my girlfriend with a knife. Luckily I was home and heard the commotion and stepped in-between them. I called the police again and this time they came because of the knife.

That’s when I found out about her son who showed up too with the police. He apologized and told me to tell the police that I would harm her or she will harm me.

That’s the only way the police will show up.

About two days later, the police knocked on my door to warm me to stay inside.

They spent two hours chasing the old lady with a knife in the Safeway parking lot across the street. Pretty funny scene.

Needless to say, her son called me, apologized again and said his mother went back to the hospital where she could get help.

Yeah I kind of figured, crazy story. I will wait until I see her again and if she is being violent again I will tell the rental office.

yea nikki, what you should do is upp your protection at least, i dont go anywhere without my taser in my car, ive had one too many experiences with punk kids trying to impress themselves, and nutjobs on the road. once i had 4 drunk kids approach my car after a party, anyways, it was a long night for all of us because there were also 4 kids in my car who arent very small. Tazer = good idea trust me...knives arent too bad.

keep your car really close, if she ever decides to act violently and you're in the hallway, rush to your home or your car (which ever one is nearest to you)

i have a friend who's mom is schizophrenic and she is pretty off the wall. one time he was on the phone with a friend who didn't believe him so he was like "just wait a sec." he goes out to the kitchen, sets the phone on the table (still on) and says "hey mom." she flipped out. started swearing at him, just going crazy. he picks up the phone and goes back in his room laughing. another time she painted the whole bathroom pink. EVERYTHING. the toilet, sink walls ceiling. the third incident he told me about is where she called the fire department in the middle of the night saying there was a gas leak. every one arrives and my friend has to explain to every one that they don't even have any gas appliances in the house. it can be pretty scary if you don't know whats going on with the person.

i would say just keep your eye out and avoid the lady. shes probably just a little crazy but mostly harmless.

Talking about wierd things. When you were in Boca did you ever see the guy in the pickup truck that would play tamborines? He would drive around Mizner Park. I'd see him every few months for years.

Just pack some mace with you. If she approaches you, spray her and then call the cops. Take the police report to the apartment manager and ask to have her removed from the complex or allow you to move on the other side away from her.

My parents have rented in Mizner Park for the last 3 winters. I usually visit them for one week or so and have never seen the tamborine man but i will ask them.
