Worst Cop
Yesterday my uncle and I were driving on the 5 freeway and then some cop pulls us over... (uncle was driving) The cop walks up to the window and says that we were speeding... and my uncle never speeds... My uncle asked him how fast he was going and the cop says 66 HAHAHAHAHA... i thought it was a joke or something but the cop wrote the ticket and said ill see you in court... the speed limit was 65.
WOW anything to give a ticket, so be careful out there!! |

Fight the ticket. The judge will throw it out. I had a similar but not identical situation a few years ago in CA and fought it, it is a pain but the judge was mad at the cop. He said he would call him in to talk with him but who knows. My guess is the cop was looking for something and was not man enough to say he pulled you over for no reason. I would actually consider calling his department and filing a complaint.

I always thought that there was a 5mph wiggle room? And I thought that staying with the flow of traffic was important as well, which allowed for a few mph over the limit? At least thats what I remember from driving school.

There is wiggle room. Every department on every road goes out each day with a general amount of wiggle room where the ticket becomes worth the time and money they are paying the police to keep the roads safe. BUT if you read the real driving manual (at least in NY) under the speeding ticket section it says that 1-5 or 10 or something like that over is a 2pt ticket. So in reality, he can do it. In terms of us paying them with our taxes, that cop should get kicked in the nuts.

The last time I got a ticket I asked the cop about this. He told me he COULD tag me for 1 mph over.
I hope a lawyer chimes in that knows California law. |

When you or your uncle see the cop in court, give him a ticket to the Gun Show and then /flex.

What's so hard to believe about the OP's story? As if cops don't sometimes write bogus tickets?

Cop wrote me a ticket for 90 in a 65. But I was going 45 because I just came off a turn. He even lied to the judge and said he was following me for miles speeding, yet he caught me only seconds after making a turn and starting to drive.
Cops are people and people lie and have bad days like everybody else.

I believe it
I believe it. 10 years ago or more, probably more like 15, Illinois would let you not have a ticket on your record (i.e. the ticket wouldn't be reported to your insurance company and your rates wouldn't go up) if you went to traffic school. I had to go to a 4 hour, and because I got another ticket within a year, an 8 hour class. In the class, he had everyone raise their hand each time he dropped one mile an hour. For example, "Raise your hand if your were going 18 miles over the limit.", Seventeen. Sixteen. And so on. I think the lowest in my class was 3 miles over. The instructor told us that SIX times in his 5 years of teaching the class he had students who were in the class for going ONE mile an hour over the limit. So not only did they get a ticket, they were found guilty and had to go to traffic school over it. Luckily I now hold a firefighter badge and I have gotten a pass the 3 times I have been pulled over in the last 10 years.
