Verizon vs. AT&T
My plan is ending in a couple day for verizon and i was wondering which is cheaper and most reliable. I do have some issues with verizon and that is why i ask, but i have only had them and no other brand so i was wondering:
1. Who is cheaper. 2. Who has best customer service 3. Who has best service help |

Service depends entirely where you live.
I had ATT in high school back in 2003, before they merged with Cingular, and reception was horrible. I had to pull my head out the window just for the connection of call to be made. In 2004, I switched to Verizon and has been with them since. Verizon is the more expensive brand, crappier selection of phones, and generally better coverage. I've never had an issue with them. |

Verizon customer service is pretty bad, although I don't have ATT so I can't really say anything about that. Verizon also has a terrible selection of phones (I'd much rather have the BB Bold over the Storm), but they have very good coverage, especially in this area.

AT&T made a $1400 error on my bill (they "forgot" that I had a BlackBerry tethering plan) and told me they would remove the charge as a "one time pardon" like it was my fault...
Their service is okay, but their 3G network needs serious help, IMO. |

You're in SoCal... AT&T SUCKS ASS when it comes to coverage. The iPhone definitely saved their ass.
I'm just waiting for the Verizon version and then it's SEE YOU LATER AT&T. As for the best deal, it's Costco. They even beat the Asian places with their $200 rebates. If you want the iPhone, you can get a plan at Costco, but you have to go to an AT&T/Apple store to get the phone. Costco was willing to give 2 LG Vu's for free after a $30 rebate. They were also $10/mo cheaper. The only problem is I have NO signal in my in-laws house in Irvine.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

ATT sucks in terms of coverage. Love their phones, but I have dropped a single call seven times. Yes, seven times. Close to half of my calls fail to connect. Go with Verizon, having a cool phone is not worth the headache.

just switched from verizon to at nt one month ago... Verizons customer service sucks, im sorry is horrible.... I paid 125 dollars a month for unlimited texts 1350 anytime minutes. Now i got at n t and ill never in my life time would go anywhere else. lemme explain 1. iphone 2. if you own any kind of business that has to do with the internet the iphone is your god. most convenient piece of machine ive owned in my lifetime. 3. 150 bux a month but everything is unlimited from head to tow. worth it. 4. Customer service is amazing, from the sec i bought the phone from customer serive on phone 15/10, nicest people. one complaint, i get some more dropped calls, however i can live with it, verizon sux and ill never go back with their stupid phones. |

i've never had any problems with at&t and i rarely have less than full signal 3G on my blackberry bold. verizon sucks here, but at&t is the dominant phone company in my area. i avoided at&t for a long time bouncing around with various different carriers (sprint, nextel, verizon, tmo) but wound up happy overall with at&t. plus, if you do any world traveling, it's much better to have a GSM (especially 3G) phone because it's almost universal worldwide...verizon is still CDMA.

I was a subscriber to Verizon for about 7 years. I always heard that they had the best service but the phone selection really sucked so I decided to go with AT&T and since I travel international a lot, it would be better to get a GSM phone. I thought over the years AT&T would have caught up to Verizon. But while the coverage is very similar, what I'm noticing is that the call quality is worse. Voices have a lot of static, I get calls that drop even though they claim the lowest drop calls. Definitely not as good as Verizon but I can live with it. I don't remember losing a lot of coverage when I was in San Francisco with Verizon but I know when I was there with my AT&T phone there were a lot of dead spots right smack in the middle of the city.
So now I have IMO better phones but I sacrificed a bit of coverage for where I roam and the call quality took the biggest hit. No two ways about it, the Verizon coverage and service was better and it cost a bit more. And it's not my phone, I have about 5 different phones I use with AT&T and they all have the same poor call quality.

So much depends on where you live that it's hard to compare carriers. I read of complaints with AT and T coverage but I have the iPhone, travel a lot to Texas and California and have never dropped a call or been without service except in the hills near Reno, NV. There are many areas with no 3G coverage outside of big cities though.
I've read that Verizon has the best coverage overall and people complain about customer service with both companies. Overall I love the iPhone and have few complaints with ATT. Thanks, Mike. |

the only thing keepin me away from cdma phones is the lack of choices. there r a ton more unlocks phones that i could get goin w/ at&t, but if it weren't for that i would be long gone. i get a ton of dropped calls w/ at&t and i'm ready to switch over soon to sprint just because of the palm pre and they do hav good coverage. i've always been anti-iphone since ever since i had a cellphone i've always had a palm phone (currently palm treo pro).
stick w/ verizon, u'll be better off w/ it

Just depends. I have Verizon and always have. Never had an issue and can't remember the last time I dropped a call.
I've talked to several people with ATT, they love it (iphone), but they drop calls left and right. I'm not sure if it has to do with the iphone or not though. |

I have ATT. I do not have an Iphone. Had the service for over 6 years now through its various changes in name. I can't even remember the last time I had a dropped call. Don't really think it has ever happened. Only down side I've seen in my time is in up-state NY at my school there were a few dead spots. I couldn't be happier with ATT.
If nothing else, I will never use either the Iphone or Verizon because of the lack of a sim card. The rest of the world has adopted the sim card format, and I find it unacceptable that both Verizon and Apple choose not to use it. Btw, Samsung i8510 all the way. 8 MP camera? wat?
