Yes, it would. You would just have the 45bz transmission instead of the 53bz. If you already have the N54 transmission I can sell you all the other stuff. It's all the same. You would just need to source an N54 driveshaft. N54 transmission is slightly longer.

The engine/dme harness would also be different but I think most people doing the swap are re-pinning their existing harness. Check this thread: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1207505

Saw this done on Wheeler Dealers this past season on an older generation M3. Cool show plus they indicated that the modification added value to the car.
