Experience with Bluetooth retrofit kit from Bimmernav?
hey guys, has anyone had any positive experiences with Bimmernav's bluetooth kit?
http://www.bimmernav.com/store/catal...-item-182.html they are listing it at $675 which seems like an awesome deal considering my dealer quoted me almost $3000 for parts alone I read in previous postings about a year ago that users were having trouble coding it to recognize English.. it kept defaulting back to German? But the site now lets you specify if you have a North American or European spec car which leads me to believe they fixed the issue? |

Their website is all confusing... who knows what the real story is!
Check this link to see where they say NO CODING REQUIRED if you have Phone Prep: http://www.bimmernav.com/BMW_new_Blu...tructions.html And here where they say Coding IS REQUIRED!!: http://www.bimmernav.com/store/catal...-item-182.html I'm SO CONFUSED!!!! I can't wait until the Sirius and Bluetooth modules come out for the Harman Kardon Drive+Play 2 system.. that will save me a ton of dough and upgrading from the Drive+Play 1 is super easy! |

..from what I've read, coding isn't expensive (approx. 1 hr of labour).. ie. it takes them 15 minutes I read that if you have i-drive then you should have the internal mic already set up.. No extra hardware besides this module and the bluetooth antenna are required. Both these are included in the price of their kit.
It sounds too good to be true and if it is I don't want to be stuck with a car that speaks german to me 'cause my german is pretty rusty. and by pretty rusty i mean non-existent. |

All US cars already have phone prep which means they have the bluetooth antenna. I assume you meant the microphone?

Got mine finished last week. Bought the kit for $675 and had to buy the overhead console for $237. Installed everything myself and got it programmed for $147. Everything is in English and works (Bluetooth, BMW assist) I even got the Assist for 1 year free because they set it up like it was a new vehicle. Total cost right about 1000.
