(HELP)Low boost on each map 1-2-5 JB4

hi guys,

I have a problems with my e92 335i since one week. When a WOT the max boost I got it's 8psi on map 1 or 2 or 5 on the jb4. Normaly, I hit 15-16 psi of boost... i got 2 half engine light this week during hard wot but cant read the code because the jb4 delete it before i remove the autoclear.

i make some logs on WOT in 3r gear.

My mods :
downpipe vrsf
chargepipe vrsf
diverter valve forge (yellow spring)
DCI (bms)
91 octane

Most likely a boost leak due to a loose clamp or a hose slipping off.
There are a few connection to check:
- Hot side charge pipe/outlet to intercooler
- Intercooler to charge pipe
- Charge pipe to throttle body

I've had slip-offs at every one of these places before.

It's not a leak, boost is at target, the target is just low/stock. If it's a newly installed JB4 bought the used, make sure to update to the latest firmware and/or reset all settings to defaults.

I would suggest turning off the auto clear on the JB4 and go WOT again, to see what codes are coming up.

I tried to turn off the auto clear code this week and no chance to recreate check engine... gonna try to update jb4 today and see if the target boost will raise.

if not, i will check for my charge pipe for leak

I can do order datalog in 3gears today, which setting i need to put ?? (boost,target,rpm,ignition 1 , ...? )

thanks all for your time

If it’s not newly installed and just went back to running stock boost, there's obviously something wrong. I just see in the screen that car is giving requested boost, so doesn’t indicate a boost leak, it indicates the JB4 or a setting is targeting stock boost. Are you sure it’s not kicking it to map 4 (stock) on a safety for some reason?

I don’t see how resetting adaptations would’ve caused it, but if that’s the only change made before it began, good place to start. The adaptation reset itself might’ve triggered codes, but always best to keep auto clear off when hunting problems. I’m not sure if there’s an option to reset to defaults anymore, might need to go through every setting manually. Check the dash menus and all tabs on the interface. Did you change any dash menu items recently?

Best bet is to post a datazap here or csv logs on Terry’s forum in the help section so we can see all the info. CSV file will contain setting info in it.

I was thinking it be the jb4 go to the defaut setting in map 4 but when i checked the map didnt move. If I set it on map 2 , it will not change map and only boost 7-8psi ...

I changed nothing in the setting of jb4 recently except the adaptation reset...
When i changed my chargepipe , i saw my Tmap sensor connector was broken ( the plastic clip that hold the connector to the sensor) but I was able to connected it to the sensor and it didnt move... can it be a bad tmap sensor ? But no code was thrown

I have the csv file from the graph at my first post but i cant upload it to the thread , its wrote invalid ... I will try with datazap

When safety kicks in and goes to map 4, the CEL will flash and the count will indicate which safety triggered. The csv will show the last safety trigger either way.

Make sure dash menu 4 is set to 4/3 if you're not running a backend flash. If it got set to 4/2 or 4/4, it will run the tune flashed to the DME and if it's a stock tune, you'll get ~8psi request.

Some of the dash menus don't stay at the number because they do multiple things, not sure if that is one of them. Go into menu 4, set tach to 3 (if no backend flash, 2 if you have backend flash), exit out of the menu (volume down) then exit command mode.

Menu4 set wrong strikes again. It can't be any more clear in the directions. When people search google other than the current N54 JB4 thread for information they often wind up making mistakes like this.

Might not be so quick to blame the end user. Aside from Terry changing/moving/removing things on a nearly weekly basis (when functions sheets stay cached for a while), this may actually coincide with JB4 *app* updates. I checked mine today and it was on 4/4 also. I haven't changed firmware or a any setting in JB4 since I was on the dyno back in Feb. and only hadn't noticed it because I have a high load BEF and haven't been WOT in a while.

So perfect 2 for 2 on JB4 app updates and me finding altered JB4 settings afterwards. It also looks like DC is back to DC and is no longer torque output after this update. If they change things on a whim and/or the app update process itself changes settings, can't really blame the user for not knowing some basic operating param that shouldn't be touched actually changed behind the scenes. You'd do better to mention it to Terry/DMAC.

How about it alyqc, using the JB4 app at all? Updated right before all this started by any chance?

These are not data logging changes though. 4/2, 4/3, and 4/4 have not changed for a long time. 4/4 was added over a year ago I think? Back in the day 4/4 used to be "CANflap on" so I think people find old documentation (not from the single source updated sticky on N54tech where all updates and current documentation is posted), select mode 4/4, and their confusion ensues. Fortunately it's an easy problem to spot.

Yes, somethings have stayed the same for a while and some things change purposely, but some user settings change seemingly on their own lately and the only thing I found that correlates to those in my case is the mobile app updating. If that is the case, would be causing outbreaks of like issues (and increased "tech support" requests).
