So, brought this beast home tonight
The modding has already begun - LED interior swap complete, black kidney grills swapped, and garage door programmed. I didn't have painters tape, or I would have changed the 335d to blacked letters. Future mods - BPC Stage II plus and Water/meth tank for the trunk Thinking about black powder coat for the rims...? |

I have stock 220's on my M3 with chrome trim, chrome kidney and chrome door trim. I like that look, but only with chrome accents. |

Used my Carly app to check codes - this code is the only one I found. Googled - without much success....I know it has something to do with the exhaust or DPF?

Could be a caked up metering valve needing cleaning. I confess to not being an SCR system expert. I just know that I found mine to be a crusted up mess even after Ecotune "coded the DEF/SCR system" off. I hadn't seen the problem further since switch to JR Auto tune.
As Hooper says, after you get tuned this concern will be gone. One thing to keep in mind. There have been instances of where somebody had trouble brewing before getting the systems deleted and then when they got the computer back they still had a few hurdles to clear due to the "before" situation. What I gained from reading about those was to try to have everything at a clean slate if possible prior to switching over. Your tuner is the best person to discuss with though. Maybe things are easier in that regard now. |

4d16 is a generic "something is wrong with the SCR/DEF system". There could be about a dozen things wrong that cause it: DEF metering valve (injector), NOx sensors, SCR catalyst, engine thermostat!, sensors in the DEF tank, etc.
