I know it sucks - maybe because I've already been through the 5 stages of grief - but the success of the trip is up to you and your perspective.

I have received an acceptable offer of compensation from BMW for ruining my plans. It does include a month's worth of payments. It all works out in the end. Everyone makes mistakes - business (and life) is about how you recover. At this point I am going to accept their offer and move on - I'd still like to drive my car soon, but that will come.
Glad you made the most of your vacation. Yeah, I doubt BMW has a bunch of M cars waiting around for this kind of thing, but they do keep fleets of 7s (maybe others) for various purposes. I suppose for most people, being offered a 7 would be fine (if not great).
If I wanted to drive a land Yacht I would have bought one. No thanks. Not even close to comparable for me.

My individual M4 is 6/16 production and may be affected. Anyone thinking about trying to use this as pull?

I felt the same way, but I didn't have option 2 or 3, so I took the only option I had. Sounds like you should go down one of those paths.

OK so my VIN# is not on the posted list. I checked 2 different places to make sure my VIN# was correct. It is correct per my BMWFS online and my CA.

CA is reaching out to BMW NA now to confirm..

Maybe the list isn't finalised or more cars are affected than first thought..

Don't know, he told me that he had seen the VIN list, but it showed up on my vehicle history report.

I guess all I can do is wait at this point. Hopefully it's not delayed too long, but considering it's still not on a boat, I probably have another 7-8 weeks anyway.

So did he say that your car was not on the list but it was on the history report?

Hi Everyone,

My first post in the forum and unfortunately by such a frustrating topic.

I live in Germany and my new M3 has been standing on the dealer's lot awaiting my pick-up on the 3rd of August. With the recent announcement from BMW, it looks like it just might end up standing there a little longer...

I had the opportunity to see the German Announcement from BMW to the dealers and found it interesting that BMW stated that the dealers could release a car to the customer, if it had already been registered with the German Traffic Authorities. They also stated that there was no need to recall a vehicle if it had been already released.

That would indicate to me that the issue with the differential/drivetrain cannot be that serious, but makes it even more puzzling as to why they are not releasing the non-registered vehicles and no replacement parts are available...

that sucks man, sorry to hear that. Mine has been at the VPC since 6/28 too though and don't know why. (genius tells me it's not affected by the differential as my production date was 4/26)

Rough count seems to indicate that the available list of VINs is less than 202....

I wonder if the list available is complete....and that perhaps they have to examine the vehicles physically. Mine has been sitting at the VPC for several days now, but i'm currently not on the list.

Same here. My VIN is not on the list, but my sales manager is saying that my car is affected, and they are awaiting further instructions from the BMW mothership about the fix and ETA
