this is my 52mm Invicta Venom Limited Edition 74 of 300 that i just got last night.

the red border on the face looks pink since it's so close to the blue dial - i really like it.

when anyone asks, i'm going to tell them it's pink

Love the Hydro Conquest.

If it makes you feel any better (not that you need to) I have a Longines dress watch that dates to 1957 and the only reason I don't wear it every day is that it's not water resistant - it's been quite trouble free for me. Picked it up in a lot off eBay to get another watch that I thought I wanted more and when it arrived it became part of the regular rotation.

hahaha, I had to read that a few times to figure out whether you were being sarcastic . That is a nice piece. My FIL has an older Rolex and I have to admit, the older watches have a lot of charisma. Anyway, enjoy in good health.

The reason I got the Longines is that I want to take up scuba diving, and being able to withstand 200M, I can potentially go down that deep, despite the fact that I don't think humans could go down that far, but its nice to know that your watch won't fold on you under all that pressure.

Your theory is sound. You want something rated for more then you will ever need because as time goes on, that rating doesn't necessarily last.
On the other side of things, I've seen it said,

"Water resistant is good for a few rain drops, 10m is good for the sink, 30-50m is good for a pool and maybe a swim in the lake or ocean (waves)."

So in theory, I wouldn't take a 200m to 200m, I would get something more capable that I'd trust. But as you said, you're unlikely to ever get to that depth, and it you do, it's at least rated for that.

I've posted it in the other watches threads but I finally have High Resolution pics... The drilled rotor and the caliper had me hooked

Anyone have any experiences good or bad with the Movado 800 series? I'm looking for a SS watch I can wear daily. Budget up to $1000.

would you consider a Hamilton? I would recommend them over Movado, I've owned both brands

I find the Movados can be a bit fragile. Also, 1000$ is getting to be on the high price point for a battery watch. If you can find a Movado for less, I would put it under consideration, but 1k is a lot for their quality.

Thanks for the feedback. I actually have a $200 credit for Jared that I need to use by the end of next month. I saw on their website that they do have Hamilton and I do like some of their watches. Which model Hamilton do you have?

I would like to get a Tag but know my fiance will throw a shit-fit with the wedding only a few months away.

no problem, I've put in stupid amounts of hours researching watches, so it's good to know all the information I injested is being put to some use....

I have the Hamilton Jazzmaster Lord Hamilton
http://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=h...9QEwBA&dur=366

some good news for you/wife to be. this is one of the most expensive hamiltons and it comes in under 2000 (1500-1700ish) and it has the same internal parts as many of the Tag watches, as well as many Omegas too.

if you get an automatic hamilton without the chronograph movement, you'll be looking closer to 1000$ for what in my opinion is a higher quality watch then a Movado.

But it also all depends if you are looking for automatic or manual watches as well, because the hamiltons can go a lot cheaper with a battery.

That is definitely a sharp watch. I will have to look and see if they have that model at the store.

Jazzmaster? Bah. If you go Hamilton get a Ventura. I want one bad. (Of course I'm the guy with the Studebaker coupe so you know I'm a sucker for art deco)

Might be selling mine, undecided at this time. Doesn't get enough wrist time. Have too many watches.

spotted a hydroquest chrono in a pawn shop today, but way overpriced. Fortunately for me. Tempted to go back and offer them a reasonable price for it but probably a bad idea what with being unemployed in a week and all. The1, are you considering selling a Jazzmaster or Ventura? If the latter, I'm interested... it's shortlisted for me even though I'm a total automatic snob.

Funny thing is I strolled into the pawn shop really looking for a receiver (they didn't have one that was worth a crap) and ended up looking at watches... the guy working there was actually admiring my Seiko 009 on a NATO strap while I was looking at a Longines *shrug* go figure. Guess you really don't have to spend lots of money to make a good impression.

Well it's finally here! Took a bit of adjusting, but that's a piece of cake with the oyster bracelet.
