Adobe Acrobat or Options for pdf files?

Recently replaced computer with a Win 7 OS and my understanding is that my old Acrobat 8 software is not compatible. All I need is the ability to create pdf files. Any less expensive options than purchasing Acrobat X or XI?

there are free pdfprinter apps that create a virtual printer (anything you print becomes a pdf file)

I'll check them out, thanks.

Went with a product named Bullzip. Simple and easy to use. Thanks again.

MS Word does it without Acrobat. Just click Save As and pick PDF as the Save as Type.
