Yeah something cheap that shoots pistol calibers interests me, that Hi Point is also an alternate option. I just can't find anyone with Sub2ks in stock

That's sweet man. Pretty much the same thing as the Sig Scorpion. According to that blog i posed the link on, Sig uses wilson, brown or bear small parts.

I'll be shooting both the Sig and Nighthawk tomorrow. i'll give you a report afterwards.

I didn't say there is anything wrong with it. But if you can't use it where you shoot then it is not worth having (unless you are stock piling).

Now that you people have successfully given me the 1911 bug I've been researching them. I've been thinking about either getting a Springfield Armory GI or an Ithaca.

If I get the Springfield I'd plan to mod it over time and really learn about 1911's since it would be my first.

On the other hand I've been considering getting the Ithaca, which is handmade by two guys about 1 - 2 hours drive away from me. I don't know why, but being that close to the manufacturer adds some value to me. It comes out of the box pretty much how I would eventually setup the GI.

Any recommendations or experience with either gun?

All right! Here we go.

Picked up my Springer Loaded and kids/gfs Remington 870 Youth. Obviously had to stop by a range on the way home...

This thing is excellent. First 7 at 10 yards.

And here it is. This is THE best under-$1000 1911 money can buy.

With reinforcements.

The Sticks. Remington 870 Youth & Mossberg 930

Sorry, my apartment does not have adequate lighting or background surface to show a gun. Everything is either dark brown or black and lights are plain retarded. I should take these guys to my friend's photo studio to get some glamour shots done

I just use one of these. Got it on sale at Ace Hardware for $5 couple of years ago.
Fits my gun WITH the Pelican 1170 case, 300 rounds of ammo, eyes, ears and bunch of small things.

I took the Sig and NHC out to the range last night. I didn't get to do a whole lot of side by side comparison because i had my nephew and his wife with me. I was entertaining since they were in town.

Anyhow, there were two distinct differences between the two pistols that i could see from putting about 50 rounds through each. I also got to observe my nephew put about 50 rounds through each as well. Accuracy and Malfunctions.

Results: NHC had a tighter grouping for each of us. For me the grouping was marginal at 7 yds. However at 25 yds it was substantial.

At 7 yds i made about 2" groups for 8 rounds with the NHC. With the Sig i was about 3" for 8 rounds at the same distance.

At 25 yds i made about 5" groups for 8 rounds with the NHC. With the Sig i only got 3 rounds in the same 5" group.

What's difference? My guess is the trigger; on the NHC breaks at 3.5 pounds with hardly any movement prior to breaking. The Sig has a millimeter or two of movement before breaking at 5 pounds. The other differences are that the serrations of the Sig are much sharper and deeper and the shape is nearly straight.

So will some trigger work on the Sig make up the difference? I wonder how much some trigger work and some feed ramp polishing would cost from a gunsmith? Which brings me to the other difference between the two pistols.

The Sig unfortunately had 3 failure to feeds while shooting. Two of them happened with my nephews wife shooting and one happened with me. The feed ramp of the Sig looks like it has a brushed finish while the feed ramp of the NHC is polished to a glass mirror finish. It really feels like glass when you touch it. I'm using wilson combat mags in the Sig so i'm guessing the feed ramp has something to do with it.

I really like the Sig so i'm going to either contact Sig about the issues and see if they will do anything about it or look into getting the polishing and trigger work done. People keep telling me that it's barely broken in but i believe that with yesterday included that makes about 500 rounds run through it. I would think that it should be broken in now. I've heard good things about Sig customer service. I'll let you know what i hear back from them.

I just got one of these on Amazon for $49 shipped. http://www.sportlockllc.com/cgi-bin/...tion&key=00005

Like it quite a bit. Holds 2 fullsize 1911s on one side and the other side had a Glock 22, 150 rounds of ammo, eyes, ears, 8 extra mags and plenty of targets folded up.

Yea man let me know on that. I still have the rest of the year to get any info I can. Dropping off mine today to ship back to SA. They say it'll be a 10 day turn around hopefully.
