How to drop the glovebox to access fusebox easily?

Hey everyone,

I want to hardwire in a dashcam in my 325i E90 and I was wondering if it was possible just to 'drop' the glovebox instead of removing the whole glovebox assembly which includes removing the cup holders. I have seen a few cases in BMW cars that have gloveboxes which can be 'dropped' down to make accessing the fusebox a whole lot easier and was wondering if the same were possible with the E90 .

Cheers

You do know that there is switched 12v in the overhead console right? Light green wire. Use something like this to make a clean install https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CGQME5U...vert-amazon-20

The overhead console method has always seemed overly complicated to me.

I used something like this (I think they're called fuse taps) and just tapped into if I remember right the Aux power fuse in the glovebox. I guess space was a little tight but it was easy enough.

Either way will work fine but if youre looking for an easy, and easily removable solution I'd personally recommend the fuse tap. Then run the power supply wire up the A pillar and tuck it into the headliner and then right out to your camera.

Also, you'd think it would be possible to make DASH CAMS (cameras designed to go in vehicles) run off 12v but I guess technology just hasnt come that far yet

I was able to hardwire my dashcam (using a fuse tap) without removing or dropping the glove box. There's enough room through the access panel
