Went to Heidelberg in 2009 and it was beautiful. One of my favorite places while in Germany. Highly recommended! The town is a college town and very cute with a lot of shopping if you're into that. Find parking and then walk to dozens of choices for food and drink. Very relaxing and great people watching!
I stayed at the Heidelberg Marriott if you change your mind and stay there which was great. My only complaint was that it was a mile or two away from the town center so you had to drive into town or take the hotel shuttle which was kind of hit or miss, but that was 8 years ago.
