hi,im in the uk too but have the 2 door f13 640d.
you dont say if you have 640i or 640d,but the diesel torque is harder on tyres than the petrol.
also you dont say if you have run flats or normal tyres.
i run normal tyres,kumho ps91..love them.i get 12k to 13k on the rear tyres and 16k on the fronts...
the wear on my tyres is almost even accros the whole width of the tyre .
i think tyre pressure has a lot to do with wear,i think the pressure stated by bmw is too high for me...i experimented on my first of 3 x 640ds with presures and grip and wear...i find 33psi front and 35psi rear has best grip and even wear too.
i always have alignment checked when i buy a car but not again unless i have reason to..
hopefully you dont have run flats,,and if alignment is ok (the person doing the alignment should check for worn suspension before alignment too) then it probably down to pressures.
