^ Here is what he meant: usually when couples get married they register at a store or stores and pick what they want/need. Their guests can then go to those sites/stores and buy from that list and have it shipped either directly to the couple or to their own home and later on give it to the couple.
In my opinion you should get them some china or silverware. I got my friends a set of china and they loved it. It was one of the items they registered and they use it every day. So either pick something from their list or buy something practical.
