Can't make you feel better here...you are screwed. And as others said...they probably will mess up the place too. My sister in law and her husband moved in to a place that had been previously rented (they bought the place), tenant before they left grabbed the chandelier and literally ripped it out of the ceiling for something to sell I suppose...there were just wires hanging out of the ceiling and it was all messed up.
Plus the place was beyond filthy. It was pretty bad, I couldn't believe they didn't go after the seller for damages, but on the other had, they had planned extensive renovations anyways that was going to have a lot ripped down anyway.
