The kid was trying to provoke his mom and she didn't go for it for almost 3 min. Any kid needs to leave home at 18, so this kid is no exception. If he is not 18, then he should be allowed to stay until then. There is nothing wrong with a parent letting the kid know they do not approve of the kid's lifestyle.
Edit:
It sounded like the kid was 20 so he should get out. Nothing says a parent must approve of every choice a kid makes.
