all those areas are terrible for owning a car. i'm pretty sure you can find a good place in glen park/sunnyside with parking in the 2000 range. glen park itself is pretty low key but you can easily access all the party places from there like mission/downtown/soma without worrying about parking and driving home. going to Berkeley with bart from glen park would be a lot easier than from marina/nob hill/pac heights too.
