On my E46 325xi i broke down twice with coil pack problems and these guys were all over it with outstanding service. If you check this board and others you will see some problems but they all seem to get resolved. I would not worry.

Yeah, VW is among the worst service of any brand. It's too bad too, because they make nice and affordable cars.
