My grey faux suede nikes are FLAT bottom. I repeat, I ONLY lift in flat bottom shoes.
However, when olympic lifting (cleans/snatch) always use a heeled lifting shoe because it gives you proper leverage.
On the squats I go flat foot/bare foot. Interesting point tho. Maybe ill do a workout barefoot and address that.
