I had a Note 2 since 2012 and yesterday just picked up a Note 4.
BTW, there is a current trade-in promo where you can get $200 back from Samsung for trading in a POS phone worth at least $10, promo ends in 2 days, so hurry.
The Note 4 didn't blow me away. The only major upgrade going from a Note 2 to Note 4 to me is the screen resolution. IMO, the Note 4 is more of a "LCI" type upgrade from the Note 3. Whereas the Note 3 was a major jump from the Note 2 in features.
That said, if you can hold out, I would wait for next generation phones this time next year where you'll get 4k screens, wireless charging and other features.
IMHO, I think phone technology is hitting a ceiling (regarding features I care about), I can only see screen resolutions getting better and also updating to your carrier's latest LTE bands, but that's about it. I plan on using my Note 4 for 3 years at this point, as I'm future proofed on my current carrier's new LTE band rollout.
