If not, decent samsung or panasonic plasma gets my vote for home theater system.
I wont' go into the model# because I dont' want to break your 5 yr old piggy bank but around $1000 should get you a decent 55+" plasma.
For sound system, Bose would get my LAST vote...Cheap construction with no compatibility or connectability to AVR units.
For $600, as a starter, I would try Harmon Kardon 1600 AVR + Mirage Omni set up.

I should probably clarify, looking to spend less than 1500 for the tv and soundsystem, so it's more of just a tv set up and not a "home theater" haha
I like the BOSE just because I can hook up my ipod and have it running all day and it sounds pretty clean. Is the one you listed a better alternative? Are there better ones, because I love having a soundsytem for the place and it gets pretty loud
