Just what you usually get when you try to have a conversation with anyone that deals with customer service issues.
I've never had that happen with a car, but have with a carpet cleaner. Finally they looked at video and saw me returning it when I said I did.
Like you said, it's not a matter of $, but all the things that coulda happened including an accident coming back to your insurance. I would go there and demand to talk to the owner(s) in person.
