Thanks all. She's sacked out upstairs and still has no clue what's in store for her tomorrow.
As for the book, it took me about 30 minutes with a box utility knife (cut through almost 800 pages). It's not as easy as one might think, because as you cut into the pages of an open book, each page underneath gets shifted slightly to the right relative to the one above it. So the hole keeps moving toward the left. I had to keep re-doing the position of the square hole.
